Eviction

The official eviction of the Slydells took place on February 25th of 2023. They owed a large sum of money due to them not paying rent.

Tophia a day before leaving the apartment

The Slydell family had been behind on rent, and they had been discussing the possibility of eviction for months. They could be seen talking about it on live, and discussing what they would do if it happened. The complex had also received complaints from neighbors who were concerned for their own safety, which is an additional factor to their eviction. They were over 2000 dollars in debt. Tophia unsuccessfully started a gofundme attempting to get fans to pay for their rent, but they couldn’t raise enough money.

Squatting

Due to not paying rent, the Slydells were considered to be squatting. Tophia incorrectly claimed that legally the complex could not forcefully remove them from the apartment because the Slydells had been living there for 9 years, but she was wrong because New Mexico swatter laws state that you must be living at the property for 10 years while paying any property taxes before they can be considered for any type of adverse possession, none of which she was doing.

Eviction

Despite Tophia's ferocious fighting of the complex, the Slydell's actions eventually caught up to them and they were evicted on 2/25/2023. They left the apartment once and for all on 2/28/2023. after their eviction, they moved into a motel 6.
